The only suspicious thing that has occurred is the popups the first day I downloaded the fake Adobe Flash. I also haven't been "locked out" of any of my files or from the internet, which I hear happens to people when they download a malware. I've checked my bank account regularly since September, and there hasn't been anything suspicious. The university will also check my computer manually when I return. It found two MegaBackUp files and one MacKeeper. I go to a university and emailed the technology help desk and they recommended downloading MalwareBytes to remove any adware that has been on my computer. The full scan of my computer hasn't found any malware. Concerned Intego was not doing its job correctly, I've researched the best antivirus for Mac and downloaded Bitdefender yesterday morning. I also personally found a folder and LaunchDaemon called MyShopMate from that date that I deleted manually. The "last modified" date for both was from that day I downloaded the fake Adobe Flash. A few days ago, it detected two files (one was called software open or something under the LaunchDaemon folder and another was a Safari extension called chumsearch). It didn't detect anything and again I was under the impression that everything was fine. Since then, I've recently replaced Avast with Intego security for Mac a few weeks ago. I didn't have any problems with pop ups on my computer for several months and forgot about that incident. I was still receiving popups on Chrome when I clicked anything so I believe I downloaded an anti-popup extension. I deleted the downloaded installer and emptied my trash and then installed Avast security to scan my computer. I don't think it completely finished installation, although I could be wrong. If I recall correctly, the program was in the middle of installation and once I noticed that a bunch of ads were popping up, I tried to quit the installation as soon as possible. So, back in September I was looking up ways to watch a football game online and (stupidly) downloaded a fake Adobe Flash on my computer. I have a question about a Fake Adobe Flash I downloaded a while ago!
